Safeguarding Apostolic Values
What keeps a family of churches together?
Newfrontiers, of which Relational Mission is a part, describes us partnering together on global mission, “joined by common values and beliefs, shared mission and genuine relationships”. In the creation narratives, God commands that each should reproduce “each according to their kind” (Gen 1: 24) and this principle is repeated by Paul, encouraging Timothy that what he learned from Paul he should “keep as the pattern of sound teaching” (2 Tim 1: 13). Families share common DNA, and our churches in Relational Mission are no different, building to a simple New Testament pattern summarised in 9 values and a clear statement of belief.
Part of our imperative as an apostolic church movement is to reproduce ‘according to our kind’, through making devoted disciples of Jesus Christ, and planting many churches shaped by this shared DNA. To facilitate this, RM has many gifted teachers, both locally and serving among the churches. There are many training resources, courses and opportunities, including LEAD, Urban Planting, Shepherd, Called to Go, WordPlus, specialised ministry training, and much more besides. All of these contribute to developing a growing appreciation of the great doctrines of our faith, as well as the apostolic values that characterise our worldwide family of churches.
How are you doing with your own personal development? Is there some way in which you might benefit from some further training or equipping? Have a look here at some of the currently available training opportunities and see if perhaps one of these might be of interest to you:
