Mission Together to Regions Beyond

God invocates us all to ‘be fruitful and multiply,’ and to ‘make disciples of all nations.’

It is an essential imperative to think like apostles - we are not all called to be apostles, but we are all called to think like them. Jesus says, “As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you” (John 20: 21). Everyone of us has a fruit-bearing mission from God (John 15: 16). We are called and sent, whether to the next nation, or the nearest neighbour.

Any apostolic team is mandated to gather up local churches in apostolic mission that also extends beyond their own immediate boundaries. Apostles and prophets raise awareness of mission vision goals in the regions beyond, focus collaborative effort on these goals, and demonstrate evangelistic effectiveness. Furthermore, our effectiveness and fruitfulness in mission is rooted in the committed faith and involvement of the existing churches: "Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our area of activity among you will greatly expand, so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you" (2 Cor 10: 15 – 16).

Sometimes people can be distracted by the particular model of multiplying mission, advocating for one particular style over another, whether it be small house-church multiplication, or planting highly-resourced high profile larger church expressions, or some other model. Let’s be clear - every mission matters! We love every obedient expression of multiplying mission, be it in a global city or a rural village, whether it be planting a low-profile household of faith or building a large team for an explosive high-profile church plant launch. “We have always been a values-driven movement,” I once heard Terry Virgo say; the style and vehicle can take many forms, but the values are definitive, whatever the context, culture or language. Let’s celebrate every obedient mission, wherever it is and in whatever form it takes.
